On Saturday 4 July our flagship orchestra, the British Sinfonietta, appeared at the Cheltenham Music Festival for a major concert in Tewkesbury Abbey.
Conducted by Adrian Partington, the orchestra joined the South Cotswold Big Sing Group and soloists Lee Bissett, Claudia Huckle, Elgan Llŷr Thomas and Aidan Smith.
The programme opened with Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture, followed by Bruckner’s Te Deum, before culminating in Mahler’s extraordinary early cantata Das klagende Lied.
The concert formed part of Cheltenham Music Festival’s 80th anniversary programme and was one of the British Sinfonietta’s largest-scale engagements of the 2026 season.
